I watched several times a meteor hurtling towards the earth but it was always a single meteor.
Every country has its own belief about meteor. In India, if one happen to watch it, it is said that his wish will soon be fulfilled.
In a few days time, the annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to put on a great show this year, peaking in mid-August with a display of dozens of shooting stars each hour.
The Moon will be out of the way, leaving dark skies for good viewing as Earth plunges through an ancient stream of comet debris. Little bits, most no larger than sand grains, will vaporize in Earth's atmosphere, creating sometimes-dramatic "shooting stars."
The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids are called so because the point they appear to be coming from, called the radiant, is in the constellation of Perseus. However, they can be spotted all around the sky. Because of the positioning of Swift-Tuttle's orbit, Perseids are mostly visible on the northern hemisphere.
This spectacular event is expected to occur between August 8 and 14 with a peak on August 12. During the peak, rates of a hundred or more meteors per hour can be registered.

Meteor showers are really great to watch
We have similar beliefs about falling stars. An old saying here,"wish upon a fallen star". Heard it since I was a child. Many times I think there are more things that unite us than those that divide us. Spring is coming here in the deep south and the trees are beginning to put out new leaves. One of my favoriate times of the years. Glad that winter is over.
