Is the world not sufficient for us?

The scientific view that the world is not enough for humans is gaining momentum with more research on carbon-Di-oxide emission levels, its impact on biodiversity and .... oh, let me stop sounding gloomy and stick to the facts.

Though the food produced per acre has gone up to one ton, such increasing intensity is also driving rapid desertification of formerly arable land as well as reliance on chemical pesticides and fertilizers.

One in 10 of the world's major rivers, including the Colorado and the Rio Grande in the U.S., fail to reach the sea for at least part of the year, due to water demand. Now this is a serious issue and we all need to shake up our indifference to the environment.
