Human catapulted in to space.

Almost all the children all over the world would have used or would know the use of catapult. Irrespective of country's culture, religion, catapult is used as primitive hunting tool or used just as a toy.

Here is one of the funniest videos I have even seen. Using the basics of catapult, a boy who is clinging on to a very lengthy cord is catapulted high above by a car.

Wikipedia has some interesting notes on catapult. The catapult appears to have been invented in 399 BC in the city of Syracuse during the reign of the tyrant Dionysius I. Originally, "catapult" referred to a dart-thrower, while "ballista" referred to a stone-thrower, but the two terms swapped meaning sometime in the fourth century AD.

Here is a Roman Catapult.

That looks absolutely terrifying. I would not want to be launched at a mountain like that. Well I might after I saw a few people do it. But seriously, that would be way scary.
