Caecilians found after 150 years.

Caecilians-rarely surface from underneath the earth is surprisingly an amphibian. Due to its rare habit of staying hidden under the earth, nothing much is known about it.

This creature is recently found in tea estates of Assam, India. The exat place place where it was sighted is Makaibari Tea Estate near Kurseong.

Do you know that this creature was found for the first time in 1881 in Sikkim's Rangliot Valley and was named as Icohthyophis Skkimmennis?

The lack of limbs make them resemble snakes or worms depending upon its size.

A while back there was a news story about someone in southeastern Arkansas spotting a supposely extinct bird (The Ivory-bill Woodpecker)---was considered extinct in the 1920's or 1930's don't recall the exact time. But back to the point, in my youth I spent the summer month at my grandparents home in rural southwest Mississippi (they had about 120 acres mostly wooded at that time). As time progressed I found myself going deeper and deeper into the woods and eventually into the national forest which bordered their property. There,I too, saw the extinct Ivory-billed Woodpecker--I told everyone, but alas no one believed this foolish young boy. So I was excited when the news reports came out recently about the rebirth of the lost bird---it still is not confirmed, but I know in my heart it is true.
