Ready to pass the baton?

The last time I received an article in an email from an oxford journal publisher, it was about how human resource development executives should come forward to create a public pool of human resources for the benefit of world business.

I liked the concept even though there were widespread differences of opinions in the Internet.

This time, I received another article from the same journal publisher and it is about a book titled ‘CEO Succession’ by Dennis. C. Carey and Dayton Ogden.

We read in news papers and in the Internet about the sudden departure of CEO of a company but invariably, we don’t immediately hear about who succeeds the just left CEO.

It is mainly because the board is not fully prepared to fill up the void. This book ‘CEO Succession’ is aimed at educating the board about strategies for preparedness to appoint the successor in quick time, ensure smooth take over of the reins of the company.

This book has already received wide press coverage. The authors are known for their long years of experience in the field of human resources development.

More about the authors:

Dennis C. Carey is vice-chairman of Spencer Stuart US, a leading executive search firm and Dayton Ogden is currently co-chairman of Spencer Stuart who is a much sought-after speaker and commentator on key trends affecting CEOs.

Your about the author info is a bit out of date. Dennis Carey is currently at Korn/ferry. Dayton Ogden was chairman of spencer stuart from 2003 to 2006.
