The Baghdad Battery.

And you thought the credit for the invention of battery should go to our modern day scientists? You are sure to change your opinion once you read the blog post fully.

There was this thing called Baghdad Battery, a device made of clay and believed to be a battery to produce electric charge. See the picture below. It was found in the ruins of a Parthian village believed to date back to between 248 B.C. and 226 A.D.

This clay battery is fitted with a cylinder made of copper inside its body and in it, an iron rod is kept in place by using asphalt. When the clay vessel is filled with an electrolyte solution, it produces electricity. Probably, the picture below will give you the picture.

Amazing! Just amazing!

This is truly amazing. I never seen such a genius and beautiful idea. If the technology was widely used and known by people, our life today might have been way more advance. Of course, that's sometimes not something I want because some enhancement on technology has destroyed ourself.
