Alternative Fuel : Sawdust and Wood Waste

Very outlandish idea it seems-right.?

But do you know that the U.S. saw mill processed 7.1 million board-feet of lumber in 2001 alone? If that is the case, imagine the magnitude when considering all the saw mills world wide.

Of course, some of this colossal waste thus discarded is reprocessed into particle board or into wood pellets for stoves.

Wood waste is a big threat to the environment when it is allowed to rot. So, what if we burn it and convert the heat generated into electricity?

Yes, it is feasible, it's already in practice -- a 14-megawatt wood waste power plant is being built in Nigeria using the saw dust.

That's an intriguing idea - but is it really sustainable? I mean, the waste wood is a great plan, but surely it couldn't last long? And would burning the wood (too many wood/woulds!) cause extra heat into the environment?
