I politely declined the offer of a magazine by the fellow passenger in the flight from Nova Scotia to Virginia. However, a conversation started which did not end in the next two hours.
She (the fellow passenger) was a personal injury attorney who can easily enthrall any willing listener with her on and off court proceedings. Since my father was also a lawyer, I was able to say a few meaningful sentences.
I asked her about her specialization, which was lawsuit cash advance funding. Actually, I meant to ask whether it is true that the plaintiffs need not repay the pre-settlement cash advance if they don’t win the legal battle but curtailed my curiosity.
This is a sensitive area and I am aware of the fact that lawsuit funding agency will not reveal how they can take such a risk. In fact, I have not heard about any such cases where the plaintiff could not win a favorable verdict and thus failed to replay the legal settlement advance.
Then, our conversation veered to the various natures of personal injuries that included injuries because of animal biting, doctor’s negligence and expired medicines.
Just before our friendly chat, I accepted her offer of a magazine because I was exhausted and wanted to merge with the silence of the aircraft.
