I read in Reader’s Digest long back that once upon a time, the gold miners were paid a bag of rock each week as salary. They were tempted to accept in on the promise that it might contain gold to make them rich over night.
Is it so?
For a passionate bullion investors and people like me who buy gold coins occasionally, this news might come as a shock. Actually, we are all so oblivious about how gold is extracted from the rocks and the earth. How we are expected to know the toils of the real miners who risk their lives to light our lives?
I think even the gold vendors are not so much aware of how gold is mined, purified before minted into shapes of coins and ingots.
Now, with the advent of powerful earthmovers and conveyor belts, the earth containing gold ore is easily excavated and brought up to the surface much quickly.
