Soup made of bird's nest!

Bird's nest soupImage via WikipediaI asked my son what he is going to taste after the Reindeer soup he took when he visited a remote place in Norway to view the Northern Lights.

He told me that if he is lucky, he may buy a bowl of a soup made of a bird's nest!

I instantly cried out loud, "What? Bird's nest soup"? What is this. How anyone cane make soup from a bird's nest?

My son told me that he heard about from a Chinese colleague. The bird in question is Cave Swifts belonging to the family of Swift builds its nest using its saliva! And this saliva is said to contain highly nutritive substances.

Man! Don't you have anything better to do than analysing a bird's saliva?

The Chinese call this soup as the “Caviar of the East”. In Hong Kong a bowl costs up to $30.
