Probably movie makers have unknowingly motivated scientists to discover something that can read mind. The last film that I remember where someone read what is going on the mind of the person he is talking to was Tamil film Sivajai. In it, the hero Rajnikant played pranks by reading aloud what the comedian Vadively is thinking.
Now the real science says it is really possible to read a person's mind simply by looking at brain activity using a modern scanner. A London based scientists asked for some volunteers to test his experiment.
The credit goes to Eleanor Maguire of the Wellcome Trust Center for Neuroimaging at University College London.
Well, as in the film, intruding the privacy of mind is not yet possible but this scanner can read only spatial memories.

That's crazy. I saw something like this on the news. It was made for people who'd lost the ability to speak and write. They could think a letter and that letter would appear on a screen, helping them to communicate their thoughts.
No way it sounds like a con to me.
