There is no 'red society' in India.

Like any normal citizen of India, I appreciate any emails (SPAM of course) that contain contact information of socio-political organizations that aims to redress social maladies.

For example, look at this information below which I received through an email from a known contact who simply was forwarding the same hoping that it would motivate some people to take necessary action as and when necessary.
Quote:
" If you see children begging anywhere in INDIA, please contact:
"RED SOCIETY" at 9940217816".

I asked my dependable friend Google to return any information he has on Red Society. Without blinking, he said his pockets are empty.

I dug further and was aghast to note that over 10k people have received the SPAMMY email with all sorts of wrong information.

Who has checked the veracity of this information? There is no 'red society' anywhere in India, only Red Cross. The SPAM email that contained this misinformation has been circulating in India for quite some time.

I checked out the same info about RED SOCIETY at http://www.ngoportal.org/article-196-Useful+Information.html and found the same number. The number is always found busy or not reachable.

Worst case scenario? It could be a shady outfit with ulterior motives! Stay away from such people, and never forward mails without verifying the correctness of the info.

People are so stupid who forward such messages, they should verify once before spamming
