I came across some interesting bit of information about certain natural sweeteners that won't increase my blood sugar.
Being an Indian, sweet is forced upon me on just about every festival. One can't just say 'no' to sweet offers citing diabetic conditions.
Here are a few natural sweeteners which are ultimate alternatives to sugar.
Honey:
Though rich minerals and antioxidants use only half as much honey as you would sugar.
Stevia:
I have not heard about it thus far but is contains zero-calories. That is a great news. In addition, it doesn’t affect blood sugar levels! You require to add only one teaspoon of Stevia to replace one cup of fined white sugar with just one teaspoon of stevia.
Agave:

This natural sweetener is a nectar that won't increase blood sugar.
This southwestern succulent produces a nectar that is sweet, low in calories and contains small amounts of calcium, potassium and magnesium. Because agave nectar has a high fructose-to-glucose ratio, it ranks low on the glycemic index, meaning consuming it won’t produce dramatic spikes in blood sugar like eating refined sugar does.
Maple syrup:
Ah, this is known to all of us though I wonder why Indians don't replace it with white sugar.
