Won't it be a great relief if your mobile phone doesn't require to be charged at all? How many times we wished we had charged our mobile phone over night?
Like babies that always arrive at midnight in the hospital, our dear mobile phone always ditches us when we need them most like when we are traveling.
A solution to this vexing issue is on the horizon.
A self-powering handset that never needs to be charged is on the anvil. The self-powering technology is based on the ability of a certain material called “piezoelectrics” to convert sound waves produced by the user into the energy it needs to keep running.
What a brilliant idea!
The credit for his amazing technological discovery should go to Tahir Cagin, a professor in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University.
Cagin and his partners from the University of Houston have found that a certain type of piezoelectric material when manufactured at a very small size — in this case, around 21 nanometers in thickness — can convert 100% energy.
The technology opens up infinite possibilities in future.
